Sockapal-green-and-blue-za

On my recent trip to Webs, I bought this yarn for my pal:

Lorna's Laces in Icehouse. Yummy greens and blues. The greens are a little greener than is showing up in the photo.

I've never used LL before, and want to do a cable-y pattern. But I've heard rumors of pooling, and wonder if that will interfere with the cables? Any recommendations or thoughts? What about lace? I think I need to start knitting before I really can tell, but I'd love to know what kinds of experiences you've had with Lorna's Laces and different types of patterns.

I've never used Lorna's Laces, but I wanted to say that's some beautiful yarn!

3-color space-dyed Lorna's Laces tends to spiral or "barber pole" for me. If you do a short-row heel from the opposite end of the ball of yarn instead of a flap heel and gusset, you will get a more even spiral down your sock. The extra stitches created by picking up stitches on the side of the heel flap and knitting the gusset breaks up spiral and that's when the yarn tends to pool oddly for me. Your colors blend nicely together and a I think a cable pattern will show up beautifully.

I agree with sb. The LL tends to spiral around. I love it, but some others don't. My first instinct was that it wouldn't work well with a cable, but maybe, because the colors are all blues, it would. I think lace would be great though.

Hi! Since you shopped Franklin you probably saw the store sample sock I knit in the Mountain Spring colorway. You can see it on my Ravelry, as well. Just wanted to say that I've knit with both Franklin and LL and I found them almost imperceptible and Gail's yarns (the Kangaroo dyer) have never pooled on me. Maybe a pair of Franklin's for yourself when the swap is over ;)

Awesome yarn choice for the man sweater, too, that one looks rustic but is so soft and easy to wear. Hello Yarn has some amazing skull cable charts that would blend right in:

Also, this would be almost hidden, like subliminal creepiness!!

I think you can get away with a lot in that color!
